For example, if we try to calculate 1/3 on a calculator with only two decimal places of accuracy (which is pretty common), we get something like this:
0.3333333333333333333…
Now, that’s a lot of threes! But unfortunately, our calculators can’t handle infinite numbers of digits, so they have to round off somewhere along the line. And when we do this with 1/3, we end up getting something like this:
0.33 (rounded down) or 0.34 (rounded up)

These tools can handle much larger numbers of decimal places, which means they’re less likely to produce rounding errors.
